Garzon Sets 3-Point Record As IU Sweeps Season Series Over Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Graduate student guard Sydney Parrish had a game-high 20 points as Indiana rolled to a 77-57 win over Purdue at Mackey Arena on Sunday afternoon.

KEY MOMENTS
- Junior guard Yarden Garzon gave Indiana (18-11, 10-8 B1G) its first lead on her record tying 206th career 3-pointer with 7:09 to go in the first quarter. It was part of a 10-0 run for the Hoosiers as it maintained a six-point edge through the media timeout.
- Indiana's defense held the Boilers (10-19, 3-15 B1G) to just one field goal in the final 4:21 of play in the first as back-to-back triples from Parrish to take a 24-9 lead.
- The Hoosiers held on to a 15-point lead at the break as the second quarter ended in a 15-all tie between the two squads. Parrish had six of her 12 in the second while junior guard Shay Ciezki was also in double figures by the break with 11 points.
- Purdue attempted to gain ground in the third, using a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 10 with 4:07 to play on an Indiana miscue. Once again, the IU defense locked down and allowed just one made field goal for the final 4:07 of the quarter and held a 63-44 lead.
- Garzon made it a school record 207 career 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter as she went back-to-back from the left baseline to make it a 20-point advantage with 9:35 to play.
NOTABLE
- Garzon officially took over as the program's record holder for 3-pointers made with 208 in her three-year IU career. She took down a 31-year-old record of 206 previously held by Kris McGrade.
- Moore-McNeil also played in her 149th career game for Indiana as she becomes the program leader in that category. She surpasses Grace Berger, who played in 148 career games in Cream and Crimson.
- Indiana won both meetings between the two schools by 20 or more points. The last three meetings between the two teams has been 20-plus point victories for IU.
- Parrish led the way with 20 points and a team-high eight rebounds to help the Hoosiers outrebound the Boilermakers, 36-29.
- Two others added double figures with 18 from Ciezki and 15 points and seven boards from Garzon.
- Ciezki and graduate student guard Chloe Moore-McNeil added four assist each.
