
Indiana To Face Utah In 2025 NCAA Tournament First Round

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's basketball is set for its sixth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance on Friday when it faces off against Utah in the first round at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Utah is making its 21st appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its fourth-consecutive. They finished sixth in its first year in the Big 12, going 13-5 overall in league play. Led by junior guard Gianna Kneepkens who averages a team-high 19.2 points and 5.1 rebounds along with graduate student forward Mayè Tourè's 13.0 points and 45 percent clip from the floor. The Utes are 17th in the nation with a 46.5 field goal percentage and 14th overall with a 37.1 clip from the 3-point line.

- Indiana is making its sixth-straight NCAA Tournament and 11th appearance overall in 2025. Overall, they hold a record of 11-10 and have advanced past the first round in its last six appearances, every time in Coach Teri Moren's tenure. The Hoosiers have appeared in the regional semifinal in three of the last four seasons and made an Elite Eight run in 2021.
- IU advanced to the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals after a win over 8-seed Oregon (78-62) but ultimately fell to top-seed USC (84-79) on March 6-7 in Indianapolis. Junior guard Yarden Garzon put together a pair of impressive performances as she scored 41 total points in two games. Garzon scored a team-high 23 points against the Trojans and hit nine 3-pointers in those two appearances.
- Headed into Friday's first round game, the Hoosiers will be on the hunt for its 20th win of the season and look to extend its consecutive 20-win seasons to 10. The program has completed 15 total 20-win seasons with 10 of those coming under 11th year head coach Teri Moren.
- The Hoosiers are led by junior guard Yarden Garzon who averages 14.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while graduate student guard Sydney Parrish adds 11.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
