Indiana Basketball Game Notes – Game 31 vs. Ohio State

Opening Tip
• Indiana University closes out the regular season of the 125th season of competition in men's basketball against Ohio State at 3:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 8 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The game will be aired on CBS with Spero Dedes (pxp) and Jim Spanarkel (analyst) on the call. The game will serve as the annual senior day for nine managers and eight players.
• The Buckeyes enter the game with a record of 17-13 (8-10 Big Ten) under second-year head coach Jake Diebler. Ohio State is led by 17.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per from junior guard Bruce Thornton. Sophomore forward Devin Royal adds 13.6 points and a team-best 7.0 rebounds per outing. Big Fella Ballo
• Sixth-year senior center Oumar Ballo has averaged 13.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per contest and has shot 64.2% (149-of-232) from the floor. He is one of four major conference Division I men's basketball players (Johni Broome, Auburn; Hunter Dickinson, Kansas; Julian Reese, Maryland) to average 13.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocked shots per night, and the only player to post those numbers on 60.0% shooting or better.
• Ballo is one of five active players to score 1,600 career points and grab 1,100 career rebounds. He joins Johni Broome (Auburn), Norchad Omier (Baylor), Hunter Dickinson (Kansas), and Nelly Junior Joseph (New Mexico) on the exclusive list.
• He recorded his 44th career double-double (10 points, 12 rebounds) at Oregon (March 4). Ballo has posted nine double-doubles across his last 17 contests.
Following the Gallo-Way
• Fifth-year senior guard Trey Galloway has dished out more than 125 assists in each of the last two seasons. He is the first Hoosier to achieve the feat since Kevin "Yogi' Ferrell handed out 125-plus assists in four-straight seasons (2012-16). Tom Coverdale (2001-03) is the only other Hoosier to hit the mark multiple times in the last 25 seasons.
• The Culver Academies alum has handed out at least five helpers in 38 career games and at least eight dimes in eight contests. The Hoosiers hold a record of 7-1 in those games.
• He is one of three B1G players (Brock Harding, Iowa; Jeremy Fears Jr., Michigan State) to average at least 4.0 assists in under 30.0 minutes per game.
• Galloway posted 15 points, nine assists, four rebounds, and just two turnovers against No. 13/14 Purdue (Feb. 23). He is one of eight players to post that stat line or better against a ranked opponent this season.
• He set the program record for all-time games played with 138. Gallo is eighth in career assists (418), and 58th in career points scored (989).
• Galloway is one of two active Big Ten players (Braden Smith, Purdue) to have collected 950 points, 400 assists, 300 rebounds, and 100 steals in their careers.
Hoosiers Handle Huskies in Seattle
• Indiana upped its winning streak to three games with an 83-78 result at Washington on Saturday, March 1, in Seattle. The game marked the first Big Ten clash between the two programs and the first played in Seattle.
• Junior forward Malik Reneau scored 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor to go along with six rebounds. Senior forward Luke Goode knocked down five 3-pointers to score 18 points.
