DALLAS – As one of the premier bats in college baseball, Indiana's junior outfielder Devin Taylor was named as a National Semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy. The award's committee announced a list of the 64 best players from across the country on Thursday (May 15) afternoon.
The Dick Howser Trophy is one of the most prestigious awards in collegiate baseball and is given to the top player in the nation on an annual basis. It is sponsored by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). The 38th edition of the trophy will be handed out on Friday, June 13th. Three finalists will be unveiled in Omaha on June 7th.
Taylor has been one of the best all-around players in college baseball since bursting on the scene as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2023. Now as a junior, Taylor continues to flash the skill that will make him a likely first round pick in this summer's MLB Draft.
On the season, the Cincinnati, Ohio native is slashing .366/.488/.670 with an OPS north of 1.100. He's got 71 hits on the season while contributing 14 home runs, 13 doubles, 55 RBIs and 59 runs scored. He, and fellow outfielder Korbyn Dickerson, are leading candidates to be First Team All-Big Ten selections next week.
Taylor broke the program's all-time home run record in April with his 48th career home run and has worked that tally up to 50 ahead of this weekend's (May 15-17) regular season finale at Michigan. He's helped IU to over 100 career wins in his time in Bloomington and will leave as one of the best players in program history.
