CARY, N.C. – Junior outfielder Devin Taylor, who is wrapping up an illustrious college career at Indiana, was named as a Golden Spikes Semifinalist, as announced by the organization on Sunday (May 18) afternoon. He is one of 25 players named to the list in the entire country.
The Golden Spikes award is one of the nation's most prestigious individual awards, handed out annually to the best player in College Baseball. Charlie Condon (Georgia) and Dylan Crews (LSU) won the past two editions of the award in 2024 and 2023 respectively.
Taylor has been the face of IU's program over the past three seasons and has been a part of 107 wins during his time in Bloomington. On the season, he's hitting .366 with 16 home runs, 60 RBIs, 13 doubles and 61 runs scored. Taylor is also one of the best at taking free passes, ranking inside the top five of the Big Ten with 51 walks.
In his career, Taylor ranks top-10 in program history in home runs (52), RBIs (173), runs scored (189), walks (124) and slugging percentage (.664). He's a two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection and is likely to make it three-consecutive years when conference honors are released on Tuesday (May 20).
Taylor is just the fourth Golden Spikes semifinalist from IU since the award began tracking the honor in 2009. Eric Arnett (2009), Josh Phegley (2009) and Sam Travis (2014) join Taylor (2025) in an illustrious group of players in program history. Phegley and Travis went on to play in the big leagues while Arnett was a first-round draft pick.
The Cincinnati, Ohio will aim to be the first finalist for the Golden Spikes Award in program history. Fan voting, which factors into the decision for the three finalists, will run from May 18-28. The organization releases the three finalists in June during the NCAA Tournament.
