
Rimington Trophy Tabs Coogan to Preseason List

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – One of the fiery leaders of the Indiana football offensive line, redshirt-senior Pat Coogan has been named to the Rimington Trophy preseason watch list.
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football and is named for Dave Rimington, a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, and the only two-time winner of the Outland Trophy.
Coogan appeared in 30 career games over four seasons at Notre Dame, with all 26 starts coming since his first collegiate start against Navy in the 2023 season opener in Dublin, Ireland. He played in all 16 games for the Irish last season with starts at center in the final 13 games on the way to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Over the last two seasons at UND, he helped pave the way for back-to-back 1,000-yard rushers and 15 100-yard rushing games. In 2024, Jeremiyah Love (1,125 yards; 17 TDs) and quarterback Riley Leonard (906 yards; 17 TDs) as the first Notre Dame duo with 15-plus rushing touchdowns in the same season. The 2023 season featured Audric Estime's 1,341 yards rushing and program-record 18 rushing touchdowns.
The Rimington Trophy is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which encompasses college football's most prestigious awards. The NCFAA's 25 awards have honored more than 950 recipients since 1935. Visit NCFAA.org for more information.
