BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Head coach Jeff Mercer will take his new roster up to Grand Park in Westfield as the Indiana baseball team readies for its first fall scrimmage of the year. The Hoosiers will meet a familiar foe in Ball State for a 14-or-15-inning contest on Friday (Oct. 3) at 6 p.m.
Following the departure of veteran outfielders Devin Taylor and Korbyn Dickerson to the MLB Draft, IU fans will get a look at IU's new roster for 2026. Leading the charge offensively will be a deep core of sophomore bats. Reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year Jake Hanley is back to man first base while classmates Hogan Denny, Cooper Malamazian and Will Moore bring lots of experience to IU's lineup.
The fresh part of IU's roster is centrally located on the mound. Senior arms Cole Gilley and Ben Grable both were drafted in the top 11 rounds of the MLB Draft. The Hoosiers were boosted by the return of graduate student Gavin Seebold, a right-handed arm with over 160 college innings under his belt. Missouri transfer, southpaw Tony Neubeck, is coming off a great summer in the Appalachian League.
Friday's contest against Ball State will take part on Diamond 5 at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana. Admission is $10 per person with gates opening at 4:30 p.m.
