Hoosiers Suffer First Loss of the Season

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––––– Indiana men's tennis suffered its first loss of the season Sunday, falling 6-1 to the ITA No. 7 Mississippi State at the IU Tennis Center.
The Hoosiers opened the match by claiming the doubles point. Facundo Yunis and Braeden Gelletich earned a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles, while Sam Landau and Jip van Assendelft rallied at the top spot to defeat the ITA No. 2-ranked duo of Petar Jovanovic and Be Sanchez Martinez, 7-6 (7-4).
Mississippi State answered in singles play, winning all six matches to secure the dual. Indiana battled throughout the lineup, including at No. 1 singles and No. 5, where Sam Landau and Braeden Gelletich both forced a third set.
Indiana will look to bounce back when it travels to Charlottesville to take on the ITA No. 5-ranked Virginia Cavaliers.
