No. 7 Indiana Stays Unbeaten With Wins Over Villanova, No. 22 Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Indiana water polo spectacular performances by senior goalie Jasmine Higg and sniper attacker Louisia Downes in a pair of wins over Villanova (10-2) and No. 22 Brown (12-9) at the Bruno Classic. The Hoosiers improve to 5-0 on the 2026 season.

KEY MOMENTS VS. VILLANOVA
- Indiana pulled ahead 3-1 in the first thanks to powerplay goals from junior Nancy Baylor-Sefchick and freshman Audrina Kang. It had opportunities in the second but were denied until the 2:26 mark in the second as freshman Kaitlin Elias connected on a penalty shot to take a 4-1 lead at the half.
- Freshman Kylie Williams and Elias got scoring going in the third as senior Louisa Downes also added their names to the scoring sheet to take an 7-2 advantage.
- Senior Nicole Tyner started IU's scoring in the fourth as it got three goals in the final period to take a 10-2 win.
NOTES
- Senior goalie Jasmine Higgs recorded another brilliant performance with 13 saves in the cage.
- Williams added five drawn exclusions with her two goals and field block.
- Senior Grace Klingler and Downes each had two assists.
- Seven different players scored the 10 goals against the Wildcats with Elias, Williams and Downes each recording a pair in the win.
- IU improved to 11-0 all time against Villanova and is the first meeting of the teams since 2020.
KEY MOMENTS VS. BROWN
- After trading a pair of 6-on-5 opportunities, Indiana went on 3-0 run including a pair of goals by senior Louisa Downes. Brown came back late in the first, using a penalty shot to get within one at the end of the period, 4-3.
- Brown continued its run into the second to tie the game up but senior Grace Klingler connected with 3:04 to go. The Bears would score last in the first half, taking a 5-5 tie into the break.
- In the third, back-to-back goals from Downes and freshman Audrina Kang pulled the Hoosiers ahead 8-7.
- Able to find separation midway through the fourth, IU posted three-straight goals to take an 11-8 lead and finish out the game with a three-goal victory (12-9).
NOTES
- Downes led the way with a season-high five goals in the win over the Bears. The Queensland, Australia native recorded eight total points as she also had three assists and a sprint win.
- On the defensive end, senior goalie Jasmine Higgs was once again impressive with 14 saves, an assist and a steal.
- Klingler had a team-high four assists while junior Olivia Harris had a team-high two steals.
- This is indiana's 11th-straight win over Brown dating back to 2014.
