IUTF Close Day One of Weekend Competition

BOSTON, Mass., NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Indiana track and field opened the split weekend from the Valentine Invitational and the Music City Challenge with multiple personal bests and high finishes.
The day started in Boston with the men's 800-meter. D'Angelo Brown ran a 1:51.44 to finish 13th overall.
Nolan Satterfield and Matt Kim followed in the men's mile where Satterfield (4::06.40) and Kim (4:07.55) each ran personal bests. In the mile invite, Andrew Mangum also set a personal best (3:58.17) to finish in the top-25 of the competition.
Tony Provenzano closed the day of competition from the Valentine Invitational with a personal best time of 13:59.90 in the 5,000-meter run.
In Nashville, Tenn. the day started in the field with the high jumps. Lee Martin (2.03m/6-8) and Taylor Schoonveld (1.73m/5-8) each finished fifth in their respective high jump invites.
Tyler Carrel earned the first event win of the weekend in the men's pole vault. His height of 5.52m/18-1.25 is best for a new indoor personal best and a top-20 mark in the country at the time.
In the long jump, Elle Knepp set a new personal best mark of 5.80m/19-0.5 to finish ninth overall.
The men's weight throw group saw plenty of production in the invite. Hunter Smith (20.63m/67-8.25) lead the way with a second place finish, followed by Nikolaos Sidirenios (20.20m/66-3.25; 3rd) and Michael Neuenroth (19.97m/65-6.25; 6th) who set personal bests.
Hannah Alexander had a productive day on the women's side, finishing fifth (19.00m/62-4) in the weight throw invite.
On the track, the 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter prelims kicked off the day. The Hoosiers saw six athletes advance to tomorrow's semi-final round. Tyler Tarter and John Colquitt will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, followed by Aliyah Johnson, Trelee Banks-Rose, Jasiah Rogers, and Marcus Townsend in their respective 60-meter semifinals.
The Hoosiers saw top-five finishes in each of the men's and women's 600-meter races. Ciara Kepner (1:32.41 earned a second place finish, along with Daquan Tate (1:18.40) who finished fourth.
In the 200m, Ava Olomajeye, ran a personal best time of 24.10 to finish second overall. Her time now ties Aliyah Johnson for seventh on the IU all-time list. In the men's race, Kalen Sargent (21.40) and Novo Onovwerosuoke (21.46 finished third and fifth, respectively.
