Indiana Trumps Penn State In Regular Season Finale

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior guard Shay Ciezki scored 29 points while three other scored in double figures as Indiana rolled Penn State, 93-59, on Saturday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
KEY MOMENTS
- In Indiana's final regular-season home game of the season, the Hoosiers (16-13, 5-12 B1G) started the game in dominant fashion. Indiana outscored Penn State (11-17, 4-13 B1G) 25-5 with 2:55 remaining in the quarter. IU ended the first with a 31-8 lead. Senior guard Shay Ciezki contributed 11 points for the Hoosiers. Indiana shot 55% from behind the arc, including two threes from freshman Maya Makalusky.
- The momentum stayed in Indiana's favor as the Hoosiers added 26 points in the second quarter. Four Hoosiers completed the first half in double digits, with Ciezki leading the team with 17. Redshirt sophomore guard Lenée Beaumont and freshmen Nevaeh Caffey and Makalusky each added 11 points for the Hoosiers.
- Penn State struck first in the second half with a layup in the first minute of play. IU immediately countered as Ciezki kept the ball, finishing with contact at the glass. As the Lady Lions applied full-court pressure, the Hoosiers remained composed on the offensive end while maintaining a double-digit lead.
- Indiana's strong showing continued into the fourth quarter. A 7-0 run by the Hoosiers added to their lead, and a three-point basket from Ciezki put Indiana up by 40 points with 2:58 remaining in the game.
- IU held the lead for all 40 minutes of play and added a notch to the win column, defeating Penn State 93-59. Four Hoosiers added double-digit points throughout the contest, including freshman Neveah Caffey's new career high of 18 points.
- Ciezki dazzled in her final time in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, scoring 29 points for her 20th 20-point or more scoring effort of the season. She also added a season-high four steals, three rebounds and three assists.
- Ciekzi now has 674 points scored this season, which ranks third all-time. Her 1,063 points scored in her two season at Indiana is 31st all-time.
- Caffey had a new career-high 18 points in the win along five assists.
- Beaumont also added 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
- Makalusky rounded out the double figure scorers with 15 points and five rebounds.
- Indiana's 36-point win over the Lady Lions is the largest win in the all-time series, which beat a previous 30-point win in 2021.
- The Hoosiers also won the battle on the boards, 39-34.
