Hoosiers Close Strong Weekend of Windy City Invitational

Chicago, Ill. – Indiana track and field opened the Windy City Invitational on Friday (January 16) from the Gately Stadium with four different event winners and several personal bests on first day of competition.
"We had a lot of positive outcomes this weekend that allowed us to build on our previous weekends. We are getting better and were able to keep everyone healthy, two big pluses for us," said head coach Ed Beathea.
The day started with strong performances from the high jump groups. Lee Martin in the men's event leaped a career best 2.08m/6-9.75 to finish fifth overall.
On the women's side, Taylor Schoonveld (1.74m/5-8.5), Kaselle Davis (1.69m/5-6.5), and Josie Page (1.64m/5-4.5) were able to finish first, second, and fourth respectively to take over the women's competition.
Caleb Smith earned a fifth place finish during his competition in the men's shot put.
Kelly Moran closed the day in the field with her performance in the triple jump. Her distance of 12.33m/40-5 was best for fifth overall.
On the track, Aliyah Johnson and Novo Onovwerosuoke started the day with the 200-meter races. Johnson ran a career best time of 24.10 to finish third. Novo also ran a season best in the men's competition, finishing fourth with a time of 21.54.
In the 200-meter invite, Trelee Banks-Rose continues his senior season earning the win with his time of 20.91.
The 4x400 relay teams continue to have strong performances for the Hoosiers this season. In the women's race, the quartet of Kiera Davis, Veronica Hargrave, Ava Olomajeye, and Amelia Dodds, won their invite in a time of 3:38.75.
On the men's side, the team of Kalen Sargent, Cameron Mullens, Novo Onovwerosuoke, and Daquan Tate ran a season best time of 3:09.78 to finish second overall in the race.
