BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– Sophomore Ella Trout faced just three batters over the minimum and the Indiana offense had runners on base in all six innings to even its series with Minnesota in a 5-0 victory on Saturday (March 7).

The win evens the series with the Golden Gophers and sends Indiana's season record to 17-5 and 1-1 in the Big Ten.

KEY MOMENTS
• Ellie Goins accounted for the first two runs of the game with sacrifice flies in the second and third innings.
• A leadoff double by Josie Bird in the second inning was followed by a groundout to move a pinch runner to third. Goins then hit a sacrifice fly to left field.
• In the third inning, Alex Cooper walked before a pair of Minnesota errors loaded the bases. Goins fly ball to centerfield scored the run.
• Goins first hit of the game put runners on first and third with one out before an error by the Minnesota defense allowed a run to score.
• A pair of insurance runs came around in the fifth inning when Josie Bird tripled off the centerfield wall to plate Aly VanBrandt and Cassidy Kettleman, who both singled.
• Ella Troutt was in control in the circle as she threw a complete game shutout with just three hits allowed. She struck out two and did not issue a walk.

• Troutt picked up her first victory in the circle as a Hoosier and third of her career.
• It marked the first complete game of her career.
