BERKELEY, Calif. – Indiana got a pair of hat tricks from seniors Louisa Downes and Grace Klingler but a high-scoring UCLA offense was too much as it fell 20-10 in the opening round of the 2026 MPSF Championships at Spieker Aquatic Center.

KEY MOMENTS

Senior Louisa Downes kept Indiana within striking distance in the first, scoring a pair of goals as UCLA lead 5-2.
A quick-fire shot from senior Savannah Batchelor and a 6-on-4 opportunity for Grace Klingler pulled the Hoosiers (15-10) within two, 6-4 with 6:10 to play. After a timeout late in the frame, Indiana was able to answer a 2-0 Bruin run but finished the first half behind 9-5.
Following an hour weather delay, Klingler kept Indiana within three, 9-6, but UCLA rattled off five-straight goals. Downes completed her hat trick late in the third as IU faced a 14-7 defict going to the final quarter.

NOTES

Downes and Klingler led the way with hat tricks. It marked the ninth hat trick for Downes on the season and Klingler's eighth.
Junior Gwenyth Le finished with three points on a team-high two assists and a goal to accompany a team-high two steals.
Senior goalie Jasmine Higgs finished with eight saves which
Junior Olivia Harris added a goal, assist and team-high three field blocks.

UP NEXT
The Hoosiers will get to face SJSU at 2 p.m. ET in the second round of the MPSF Championships on Saturday. The winner of that game advances to the fifth-place game on Sunday at 2 p.m.
