LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Indiana University track and field team closed the first day of the Clark Woods Invitational on Thursday, April 23^rd. The multi events highlighted the day wrapping the first days of the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon.

Max Grangier started the day with the men's decathlon. He was able to score 3,708m points setting three personal bests (long jump, 6.91m; shot put, 11.47m; 400m, 49.40) through the first five events.

In the women's heptathlon, Chayla Rankin and Elle Knepp completed the first four events, sitting at ninth and 13^th, respectively. Knepp saw personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles (14.84) and shot put (9.99m) competitions, while Rankin earned a second-place finish in the high jump 1.69m and a personal best in the 200-meter sprint (25.68).

Tyler Carrel and finished out the day with a top five finish in the pole vault. His height of 5.22-meters earned a fifth-place finish.

The Hoosiers will be back tomorrow morning as the men's decathlon will restart with the 110-meter hurdles 11:30 am.
