Malia Samuels Signs With Indiana Women’s Basketball

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women's basketball head coach Teri Moren has announced the addition of Malia Samuels to the 2026-27 roster. Samuels, a three-year letterwinner at USC, will have one year of eligibility remaining.
A 5-foot-6 guard, Samuels played her first three collegiate seasons at USC where she played in 88 games and made 21 starts. As a junior in 2025-26, the Seattle, Wash. native started in 19 games while averaging 3.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game. She posted a season-high nine points against Notre Dame, dished out a career-high seven assists against Cal Poly and had a career-high four steals against the Hoosiers.
She is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree who appeared in all 35 games as a sophomore (2024-25) and 23 games as a true freshman (2023-24). Out of Garfield High School, Samuels was named 2021-22 3A Washington State Player of the Year as a junior at Garfield High in Seattle, winning 3A State Championships in 2022 and 2023. She averaged 16.5 points, 6.3 assists, 6.1 steals and 3.4 rebounds per game while being named the 2022 State Tournament MVP and All-State First Team honoree.
Samuels joins Alisa Williams, Jess Petrie and Kenzie Hare out of the transfer portal this offseason.
