No. 10 Hoosiers Fall Short To No. 5 Arizona State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Louisa Downes and freshman Kylei Williams recorded a hat trick as No. 10 Indiana dropped a high-scorring affair to No. 5 Arizona State, 15-13, on Friday at Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.

KEY MOMENT

ASU (24-5, 2-4 MPSF) took 2-0 lead to open the game as Indiana (15-8, 1-5 MPSF) got on the board at the 3:38 mark on Williams's first goal of the day. Junior Olivia Harris added another in the first but the Hoosiers face a 4-2 deficit.
Action ramped up in the second as IU scored three-straight goals to tie the game up at 5-5. Williams along with freshman Macie Drum connected on a penalty shot. The Sun Devils took the late lead at the break, 6-5.
Senior goalkeeper Jasmne Higgs provided a strong anchor in the third, as she fended off shot after shot keeping the game tied at 7-all.
Indiana had a pair of ties in the fourth quarter on a senior Grace Klingler penalty goal at 7:29 while sophomore Morgan Schnik connected at the top of the key to keep it event at 12-all.
The Sun Devils tacked on three goals to push its lead to 15-12 with 1:21 remaining.

NOTES

Downes and Williams led the way with a hat tricks. Downes pushed her season total to a team-high 50 goals.
Williams finished the day with a team-high three exclusions and a pair of earned penalties.
Higgs had a season-high 15 saves, an assist and a steal.
Harris tied a team-high three points on a goal and a team-high two assists.
With the loss, the Hoosiers will now be the No.6 seed in the MPSF Tournament on April 10-12 hosted by Cal.
