Indiana Handles Illinois to Clinch The Series

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. ––– After facing a first inning deficit again, the Hoosiers once again responded to pick up a sound win on Saturday (May 2) at Andy Mohr Field as Indiana defeated Illinois, 7-3, to take game two of the series and clinch it.
The Hoosiers are now 40-13 on the season and 16-7 in the Big Ten.
GAME 2: INDIANA 7, ILLINOIS 3

KEY MOMENTS
• Illinois took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as Eileen Donahue homered to right center.
• Indiana responded in the bottom of the first as Brooke Mannon singled to right field to bring home Ellie Goins and make it 2-1.
• Jackie Yeager hit a sacrifice fly to right field to make the score, 3-1.
• In the bottom of the fourth, an RBIs single from Aly VanBrandt and a bases-clearing double from Alex Cooper put Indiana in front, 5-3.
• Hannah Haberstroh doubled to the center field wall to score Brooke Mannon and make it, 6-3, in the bottom of the fifth.
• Ellie Goins made a spectacular catch at the wall in the left center gap to take away what would've been a multi-base hit and RBI for the Illini.
• Peyton Drummond would score the game's final run in the bottom of the sixth when she came home on a wild pitch to finalize the score at 7-3.
