BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Big Ten Conference announced its annual postgraduate scholarship recipients on Wednesday, recognizing two student-athletes from each of the 14 Big Ten member institutions who plan to continue their education at a graduate degree program. These honorees will be awarded a $7,500 scholarship, based primarily on academic achievements.
Each Big Ten institution developed its own on-campus selection process when awarding the scholarships. Student-athletes must have maintained at least a 3.2 grade-point average (GPA), demonstrated leadership qualities, served as an excellent role model and intended to continue their academic work beyond their baccalaureate degree at a graduate degree program.
Indiana University student-athletes Marisa Grzesiak (women's soccer) and Quinn Henninger (men's swimming and diving) are the department's recipients of the award.
Grzesiak was an active leader her final season on the pitch. In her final season, Marisa made 12 starts in 17 appearances recording 24 shot attempts and 11 shots on goal. She also earned an assist on the game winning goal against Ball State. Grzesiak is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a 2024 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
Henninger put the cherry on top of a decorated diving career, winning the NCAA Championship on 1-meter springboard as a senior in 2025. The 10-time All-American helped lead the IU men's swimming and diving program to four Big Ten titles and four top five finishes at the NCAA Championships. Alongside his athletic accomplishments, Henninger was a two-time CSC Academic All-America, three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American and three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
The Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship will be used to pay expenses of the student's postgraduate education to include such related activities as research and teaching, as well as other expenses such as tuition, fees, room and board, required course-related supplies and books. To retain the scholarship, the recipient must be accepted into a full-time graduate degree program within three years from the fall semester after selection.
