Hoosiers Close In-State Homestand Thursday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — For the third consecutive matchday, Indiana men's soccer (2-0-0, 0-0-0 B1G) will host an in-state opponent on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium as it concludes a season-opening three-match homestand. The Hoosiers will host Butler (0-1-1, 0-0-0 Big East) while aiming to remain unbeaten in the young season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, and tickets are on sale here. IU staff, faculty and students get in free with a valid Crimson Card ID. Fans unable to attend can watch the match via the B1G+ digital platform.
The first 500 fans in attendance will receive an Indiana soccer t-shirt featuring Hoosier the Bison.
KICKING OFF
• IU carries momentum into this match, collecting a 3-1 victory versus Notre Dame on opening night before earning its first clean sheet in a 3-0 win against Evansville on Sunday. Indiana welcomed 10,508 fans to Armstrong Stadium between those two matches. Eight different Hoosiers have contributed to Indiana's six goals via goal or assist.
• Indiana's top-ranked transfer class has made an instant impact, with maybe the most apparent example being Oliver Moller-Jensen. The fourth-year FAU transfer contributed to five of Indiana's six goals in its opening matchweek and was named the Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week on Tuesday.
• When counting exhibition matches, Easton Bogard has scored six goals in four matches – Including one goal in consecutive regular season matches.
• Nolan Kinsella has provided assists in consecutive matches to start the season.
ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
• Butler is looking for its first win, and goal, of the season after a loss to NIU (0-2) to open the year, followed by a scoreless draw against Bradley Sunday.
• Ian Sarachan leads the Bulldogs in his first season with the program. Sarachan previously served as an assistant coach for the Colorado Rapids in MLS following a stint as an assistant at Creighton.
SERIES HISTORY
• Indiana and Butler will renew its longstanding series after a one-year break in 2025. The programs have met 36 times over the last 35 years.
• Indiana has won 26 of 36 matches against Butler, owns a .792 winning percentage in the series and is unbeaten in the last four meetings going back to 2021 – with a 3-0-1 record in that span.
• The two programs last met in 2024, a 1-1 draw in Indianapolis. Palmer Ault assisted Butler's tying goal in that match before transferring to IU and becoming an All-American in 2025.
• A 10th-minute goal was all Indiana needed to defeat the Bulldogs in 2023, the last time the Hoosiers played host in the series. Current Hoosier Collins Oduro assisted Samuel Sarver with a cross to make the difference in a 1-0 result.
• Indiana has hosted four NCAA Tournament matches against Butler, winning the last three. In 1998, the Hoosiers won a third consecutive match in overtime, beating Butler, 2-1, in the second overtime. Lazo Alavanja became the 11th Hoosier to reach 100 career points when he scored the golden goal from 19 yards. "I still haven't caught my breath yet. These guys are going to kill me," Coach Jerry Yeagley said after the match, "It's a sign of a good winner that can face adversity and still come out on top."
