Cassie Gogreve joins the Hoosiers' coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2013 season. Gogreve will primarily work with pitchers and catchers as well as assist with day-to-day responsibilities.
Prior to joining the staff, Gogreve was a standout catcher for the Hoosiers for three seasons under current Head Coach Michelle Gardner. The South Pasadena, Calif. native concluded her IU career with a notable senior campaign, earning third-team All-Big Ten honors after hitting .290 on the year with 33 RBI and a healthy .415 on-base percentage. Gogreve was also instrumental in guiding an extremely young pitching staff, which combined for just five innings of experience in 2011, to 14 conference wins and a tie for fourth in the conference standings in 2012.
During her redshirt junior season, Gogreve was selected as the team's Gold Glove award recipient after providing the Hoosiers with a solid performance behind the plate. She started in all 55 games at catcher and caught 366.0 out of a possible 374.0 innings for the year.
Gogreve was also voted as the team's Gold Glove recipient during her junior campaign. That season, she caught 23 runners attempting to steal, representing the fifth-most among all NCAA catchers and the most among catchers at BCS programs.
Gogreve played her first two collegiate seasons at South Carolina, where she maintained a flawless fielding percentage behind the plate.
