Question:
Can a Dean of a School e-mail a top junior prospect at the request of an IU coach?
Answer:
Yes - in every sport except for football. Bylaw 13.1.2.3-(a) states that all institutional staff members (e.g., faculty members, athletics department staff members and administrators) may write prospects (except in the sport of football which has additional restrictions - see Bylaws 11.7.2.3, 11.7.3.3 and 13.4.1). Email is considered general correspondence per 13.4.1-(d).
