Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
If providing meals for prospects on unofficial visits, do we need to charge them for the actual meal (i.e., the cost per person if a catered event) or can we just charge them a token amount?
Answer:
The prospect (and their parents and anyone else accompanying them on an unofficial visit) will need to pay for the actual cost of the meal. If it is a catered meal, they will need to pay the cost of the caterer charges per person regardless of how much they eat, but don't plan for 200 people @ $5 per person when you know only 100 will show to lower the cost from $10/person to $5.
