Question:
Is it permissible for a coaching staff member to make a telephone call to a prospect once he or she has finished his or her junior year in high school?
Answer:
No
Question:
If not, when is it permissible (answer will vary by sport!)?
Answer:
Men's Basketball may make one call during the month of March; Football may make one call during the month of May and then start the once per week phone call on September 1; Men's and Women's Basketball may make one call on or after June 21, three calls (not more than one per week) during the month of July, and then one call per week starting in August; All Other Sports may start their one call per week on July 1 (following the completion of the prospect's junior year in high school).

What is necessary (required by the NCAA) for a student-athlete to participate in an institutional, charitable, educational or nonprofit promotion?
Answer:
Fill out the Pre-Approval for Student-Athlete Promotional Activities form AND make sure that ALL the parameters set out in Bylaw 12.5.1.1 are met - including that the student-athlete does not miss class to attend the promotional activity - even if it's in the summer!
