Question:
While it is permissible for a student-athlete to hire an attorney or adviser to assist in making a determination on whether or not to turn professional, is it okay for the attorney or adviser to contact a pro team directly on behalf of the student-athlete to obtain further information?
Answer:
It is not okay for the attorney or adviser to contact a pro team directly on behalf of a student-athlete or prospect. [12.3.2.1]

If not, what is the penalty?
Answer:
Once the direct contact occurs, the student-athlete (or prospect) becomes ineligible and will not be reinstated until he or she is withheld from a minimum of 10% of the regular season.
