Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question #1:
Is it permissible for a student-athlete to go along with a coach who is taking a prospect back to the Indianapolis Airport at the end of the prospect's official visit?
Question #2:
For sports participating in the NLI early signing period next week there is a dead period. When exactly is the dead period and what does a dead period mean?
Answer #1:
No, this is outside the 30-mile radius limit in which a student host may entertain a prospect.
Answer #2:
The dead period for the early signing period begins next Monday (11/12) and runs through Thursday (11/15). During a dead period it is NOT permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off our campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by prospects to our campus. You may NOT provide complimentary admissions to a prospect! Also, a coaching staff member may NOT serve as a speaker at or attend a meeting or banquet at which prospects are in attendance and you may NOT visit prospects' educational institutions. It is, however, permissible for an Indiana University staff member to write, email or telephone prospects during a dead period.
