Coaches of all sports may be involved as a participant or in instructional or coaching activities in a sport other than the coaches sport for a local sports club located within the Bloomington community provided that all prospects participating live within a 50-mile radius of IU-Bloomington. For example, a men's soccer coach is permitted to coach a local sports club in the sport of men's golf or women's soccer, provided all prospects on the team reside within a 50-mile radius of IU-Bloomington.
Athletic department staff members who are not countable coaches may be involved with a local sports club in the Bloomington community that includes prospects participating in any sport regardless of whether those prospects live within a 50-mile radius of IUB, provided these noncoaching staff members do not participate in any recruiting activities on behalf of IU during their participation with the local sports club.
Answer 3: The LOCAL SPORTS CLUB REGISTRATION FORM MUST BE COMPLETED for any coach/athletics department staff member who is involved ANY WAY in coaching or instructing prospects PRIOR TO PARTICIPATION IN THE LSC to ensure that the local sports club or the coach's/athletics department staff member's participation in a LSC meets the requirements of NCAA legislation. Please see the compliance office immediately if you are involved in coaching/instructing prospects.
