Compliance Question Of The Week
Question: Is it permissible to give student-athletes a snack in addition to the three meals a day we are allowed to give to our student-athletes during preseason training?
Answer: No, it is NOT permissible to give a snack in addition to the three meals a day. However, it is permissible to allow student-athletes to carry out fruit or some other snack-type of item from training table during preseason to snack on later in the day. Also, since nutritional supplements are permitted, energy bars, energy and/or protein drinks and fresh fruit (e.g., bananas, apples, oranges) are ok to provide to student-athletes in addition to the 3 meals per day (if the fruit is necessary as a nutritional supplement).
