Compliance Question Of The Week
Question: If a coach has a good friend (who may or may not be considered a booster) who is visiting her for the weekend, may this friend go to dinner at a local restaurant with the coach and a prospect who is on an official visit? Does your answer change if the friend pays his/her own way?
Answer: Athletically-related Outside Income: All (both part-time and full-time) staff members (excluding secretarial or clerical personnel) are required to complete the attached form (which was also put in everyone's mailbox on Monday) and return to Lorie Canada by Friday, October 18. This year, there are 2 forms. The first is for the new reporting period, September 1, 2002 through August 31, 2003. On this form you must estimate what your athletically-related income will be during this reporting period and sign/date accordingly. Then, at the end of the reporting cycle, this form will once again be mailed to you to list your actual income during the reporting period. At that time, you will also sign/date to certify that this information is accurate. The second form attached to the memo is for you to record your ACTUAL athletically-related outside income from January 1, 2002 through August 31, 2002. This is required by the NCAA (Bylaw 11.2.2) and is reviewed by the President prior to him/her signing his/her approval.
