Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
A men's swimming prospect has arrived on campus early for the required new student orientation for international students (starts today). The IDS would like to interview him, but his sport is not a fall sport (involved in pre-season practice). Is it permissible since he signed a National Letter of Intent?
Answer:
No, athletics can not arrange an interview until August 30 (he will become an enrolled student-athlete on the first day of class). A reporter, however, could always contact the prospect on his or her own, as long as there was no involvement by anyone from the athletics department.
