Question:
What type(s) of activities are permissible to do with an incoming freshmen student-athlete who is not participating in a fall sport (e.g., FH, FB, VB, CC or SOC) during the week prior to classes starting on August 30th?
Answer:
C only. Per NCAA Bylaw 13.02.9 An individual remains a prospect until he/she officially registers, enrolls in a minimum full-time program of studies and attends class during the regular academic year OR participates in a regular squad practice or competition prior to the beginning of any term (which is why a prospect who has participated in a regular pre-season practice for a fall sport can receive an occasional meal and occasional local transportation). We can provide transportation from the nearest bus or train station or major airport to campus on the occasion of the prospect's initial arrival at IU to attend classes or to attend the required new student orientation (13.6.4).
