Question:Can an athletics department coach or staff member return a phone call regarding camp information to a 9th grader?
Answer:N o, an athletics department staff member cannot call (or return a phone call to) a prospect for any purpose without it counting against the permissible number of calls for your sport (see Bylaw 13.1.3). This would preclude coaches and athletics department staff members from returning calls about camps to individuals that are not yet old enough to be called. (BT 5/27/05)***Coaches and staff who typically receive phone calls from prospects or are involved with camp activities should change their voice mail to reflect the fact that you cannot return phone calls to prospects or their parents/legal guardians until they are old enough to be called per the guidelines for your sport.***
