Question 1:What can coaches/staff say to the public regarding the team status of a student-athlete?
Answer:S tudent-athletes educational records are protected by FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and cannot be disclosed without the consent of the student-athlete. Each year, IU student-athletes agree to have their team status information (active, probation, suspension, dismissal) released to the public. However, the underlying circumstances and details of any internal university or athletics department investigation or disciplinary action shall not be released. Coaches and staff, please do not release any of these details when talking to the media or general public.Question 2:
Under what circumstances can a volunteer coach receive a complimentary admission to a home athletics event in a sport other than the volunteer coach's sport?
Answer:U nder NO circumstances can a volunteer coach receive a complimentary admission to a home athletics event in a sport other than the volunteer coach's sport. So, even if the volunteer coach's team is being honored during a home athletics event or participating in a promotional activity in conjunction with a home athletics events (e.g., entertaining donors in the Hoosier Room), in a sport other than the coach's sport, the volunteer coach must purchase the ticket in the same manner as any other member of the general public.
