Question:How can a prospect's coach receive a complimentary admission to either of the two MBB "home" games that will be played in Indy in December (12/10 vs. Kentucky at the RCA Dome and 12/23 vs. Butler at Conseco)?
Answer:B ecause Bylaw 13.8.1 prohibits us from providing anything to a high school, prep school, or two year college coach or any other individual responsible for teaching or directing an activity in which a prospect is involved except for two comp admits (issued only through a pass list) to home intercollegiate athletics events at any facility within a 30-mile radius of IU's main campus (Indianapolis is outside that 30-mile radius), the only way this would be permissible is if a prospect names this individual (his/her coach) as one of his/her two guests per 13.7.2.2 (home games at site other than regular home facility). We (IU) would not be allowed to arrange this (per Bylaw 13.8.1); the prospect would need to initiate this request.F or example, if a coach calls requesting tickets to either the Kentucky or Butler MBB games in Indy, you can respond with something like this: "While the NCAA rules don't allow us to give you two comp admits, it would be permissible for you to be included as one of the two guests that a prospect is allowed to bring to the game, but the NCAA doesn't allow us to be involved in making these arrangements."
