Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
Are there facility policies in place at the D. Ames Shuel Academic Center of which my team should be aware?
Answer:
Yes, we feel very fortunate to come to work each day in our fantastic facility. We feel that our center allows us to fulfill our mission of providing the best academic support to our student-athletes. With the increase in both size and traffic we have developed some policies and procedures to ensure each student-athlete is given the best experience.
Shuel Academic Center Hours
Sunday 5 pm - 10 pm
Mon-Thurs 8 am - 10 pm
Friday 8 am - 5 pm
Saturday Closed
Unlike the old days in Assembly Hall, our center does remain open during Men's Basketball games. The student-athletes should enter through Gate 5 for access to Academic Center on men's basketball home game dates. They have been reminded that there will be heavy traffic the hour before game time, so they should plan accordingly for tutor appointments.
Policies
All classroom doors need to remain open at all times.
Classmates are welcome for academic reasons only (e.g., group projects, study session).
All guests need to check in at the front desk.
Tutor rooms should be used for tutor use only after 6 pm.
Food and drink are welcomed in the collaborative study area.
In an effort to maintain an academic atmosphere, we are asking that ALL STUDENTS (regardless of study hall requirements) are working on academic objectives while in the center. This will be specifically enforced after 6 PM when traffic is heaviest. Any student spending time on Twitter, Facebook, or eating meals from Training Table will be asked to "clock out" and go home.
We would like to thank you so much for your support of the Academic Services department! Please contact your advisor with any questions.
