Question:
NEW NCAA LEGISLATION
Effective Immediately
2008-76 - MBK - 7th and 8th graders are now considered "prospects" for the purposes of camps and clinics. MBK coaches cannot work non-institutional camps for 7th and 8th grade.
2008-9 - Institution shall submit financial data detailing operating revenues, expenses and capital related to its intercollegiate athletics program to the NCAA on an annual basis.
2008-14 - Recruiting - Walk-Ons who enroll in IU's summer school no longer have any prospect-related contact restrictions and may receive student-athlete benefits in Bylaw 16.
2008-17 - FOOTBALL - Head Coach cannot go to any high school for any reason, nor meet off-campus with a H.S. coach or go to camps/clinics in Spring Evaluation period.
2008-23 - Recruiting - After May 1 of a walk-on's senior H.S. year, if they have deposited at IU you can text them and use other unlimited electronic communication. (Not phone.)
2008-24 - Recruiting - We can now print off (in B+W) general non-recruiting stories from IU's website and send them to recruits, or (better yet) send them a link to those stories.
2008-30B - M + W Basketball - Cannot employ a H.S. or AAU coach or any "influential basketball recruiter-person" (incl. parents) as a speaker for camp, booster functions, etc.
2008-44 - Awards / Benefits - Do not have to return with 36 hours (as paid for by IU) following a Championship event if that event takes place in vacation period (Bowl Game, etc.)
2008-52 - FOOTBALL - can replace a sick or injured pre-season guy without going over the 105 limit if that guy can't return to practice during the pre-season period.
2008-65 - FOREIGN TOURS - Teams can no longer participate in a foreign tour that occurs in conjunction with a Labor Day academic year vacation period.
2008-74 - Baseball - You can play an alumni game anytime after Championship Season practice begins in February. It's exempt from the total number of games.
