Question:
NEW NCAA LEGISLATION
Effective 8/1/09 unless noted.
2008-9 - Institution shall submit financial data detailing operating revenues, expenses and capital related to its intercollegiate athletics program to the NCAA on an annual basis.
2008-16 - Recruiting - You can't contact a "Church Mission" transfer without permission from previous institution, unless it's a full year after the completion of that mission.
2008-21 Recruiting Material - Starting in 2010 (8/1/10) the NCAA eligibility Center will begin to send out the required documentation for prospects (GR, APR, Drug List, GSR).
2008-22 - Postcards - We will be able to use postcards again for permissible recruits - size limit is 4 ¼ x 6 inches; only one side has our name/logo on; other side is handwritten.
2008-33- VOLLEYBALL - If a prospect delays full-time college enrollment for more than 1 year after H.S. graduation, she loses a year of eligibility for each delayed year. (8/1/10)
2008-36 - Eligibility and Progress Toward Degree - Credit earned while on an "international competition waiver" may be used for % of degree and GPA. Look this one up!
2008-37 - Transfers - Eliminates Church Missions as exceptions to transfer residence requirements (more WAC stuff like 2008-16!)
2008-38 - TENNIS - mid-year transfers who competed with scholarship in first half of year before transfer cannot compete for new institution in second half of year. (8/1/10)
2008-42 - Complimentary Admits - Championship events - Student-Athletes in post-season events may have up to six complimentary admissions to their event.
2008-49 - MEN'S BASKETBALL - No classes may be missed if the MBK team holds an "informal practice scrimmage" as one of its pre-season exempted events.
2008-50 - WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Pre-season exempted contests will now EXCLUDE the ability to play against AAU / USA basketball teams or foreign teams in the US.
2008-53 - GOLF - You use a date of competition if five or more student-athletes participate - or any number of student-athletes contribute to a team score - on a certain date.
2008-56 - TENNIS - Increase from 3 to 4 the number of players who can participate in an individual singles or doubles event without the date counting as a date of competition.
2008-63 - TRACK & FIELD - If enough compete over a multi-day meet to make up a "countable date" then this meet can be used to satisfy minimum number of dates of comp.
2008-65 - Foreign Tours - An institution may not go on a Foreign Tour that occurs over the break of the Labor Day weekend if classes have started for the year.
2008-75 - Initial Eligibility - For "early qualifiers", the institution has to ensure that the Eligibility Center and they have a final H.S. transcript within a certain time frame.
