Question:
Recently there have been some questions regarding the new social-networking page Twitter.com. Is it permissible for coaches to use Twitter?
Answer:
It IS permissible for coaches to use Twitter.com - with restrictions.
Permissible for any individual (including prospects) to sign-up and receive updates from a coach's Twitter page.
Electronic communication between coaches and prospects (or the prospect's parents or legal guardians) is limited to electronic mail and facsimiles. All other forms of electronically transmitted correspondence (e.g., Instant Messenger, text messaging) are prohibited.
Not permissible for coach to directly communicate with prospects via Twitter.
Not permissible for coach to post a personal communication to a prospect on the coach's Twitter page.
Generic "news-worthy" Tweets only - not recruiting based or about recruiting.
Coaches should be careful about the content that they place on their Twitter page since it is a public website. Remember, everyone CAN and WILL view your "Tweets."
