Question:
In general, what do returning student-athletes have to do to be eligible for Fall Competition?
Answer:
LOTS of things, but essentially:
i. Pass 24 hours that count for degree credit in the 2008-09 school year, including summer 09
a. If a freshman in 2008-09, all 24 hours must be completed at IU Bloomington (Big Ten rule).
b. Currently Big Ten requires 27 hours passed toward degree years 2-4 (soph through senior).
ii. Pass 6 hours in spring 09. (Must count towards your specific degree years 3-5 - Junior to 5th year).
iii. Pass 18 hours degree applicable total from Fall and Spring 08-09. (No remedial, non-credit courses).
iv. Meet Big Ten quantitative hours requirements and NCAA degree completion percentages for year enrolled.
v. Ensure that they have a good enough GPA to satisfy Big Ten, NCAA, and IU minimums.
