Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
I would like to call and text my incoming walk-ons unlimited. Can I do this?
Answer:
Yes you can, but only if the following three things are true:
1. It is on or after May 1st.
2. We have on file a fully completed "Acknowledgement of Acceptance of Admission" form (or AAA), which can be found on the U: drive in the "Acceptance of Admission". See below for what "fully completed" means.
3. Your walk-on has paid the enrollment deposit, which has been confirmed by Anne.
The AAA form needs the signature of the IU admissions officer, the head coach, and finally the prospect. The best way to timely complete the AAA is to inform me (Anne) that you need one. I will get the admissions signature (assuming the individual has been admitted!) and then return it to your staff. At that point, the head coach should sign the form and you can send it to your prospect either by mail, fax, or email (as a scan). Once returned, a copy of the form should be returned to me (Anne). Remember, the AAA must also be signed and confirmed if you wish to publicly announce a walk-on's intention to attend IU.
Should you have any questions or doubts about whether an incoming walk-on has completed the three criteria explained above, ask Anne! Two out of three may be great in some sports, but it certainly doesn't work here.
