Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
I know that I can designate any seven day period as my ARA week, and this fall I plan on designating my team's week as Sunday-Saturday. During the middle of our playing season, it would help our travel schedule if I could change the week designation to Wednesday-Tuesday, is this allowed?
Answer:
NO. Once you have designated the days for your week, they may NOT be changed mid-season. However, you MAY change the days once you go in or out of season. So for fall sports, you could designate Sunday-Saturday for the fall (in-season) and once your season is over you can change that if you wish. For spring sports, you can designate Sunday-Saturday during the fall (out of season) and change it the week you switch to in-season, then if your season ended before the end of the school year, you could change it again. All declarations of ARA weeks must be documented with our office, currently with Ryan. Changes can be made as "Segments" change from in to out and vice versa, but not at semester, or mid-segment.
Question:
I really like sending our printed media guides to recruits, how can I still do this?
Answer:
Printed media guides may no longer be sent to recruits beginning August 1st, 2010. Additionally, you may not even show a recruit a printed media guide while they are here on campus. Or leave one lying around for pick-up. However, electronic versions of the media guide can be sent to recruits (on a flash drive, CD, or as a link in the body of an email - but not as an email attachment). If you choose to create printed versions of your media guide (for donors, general public, etc.) then you may send an electronic version to recruits as long as it is an exact copy of the printed version (no links, video, etc.). All printed versions and electronic copies of the printed version must conform to traditional rules regarding media guides (size and color). However, if you do not print any media guides, you may create an electronic version containing video and audio as long as the video and audio is not created for recruiting (i.e., if the general public would find value in it then it should be OK, but stay away from asking recruits why they chose IU, etc.). If you don't create a printed version there is no size, space or color restrictions on the electronic version or the device in which it is delivered electronically (no limit on the size of CD or flash drive sent).
