Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question 1:
I'm all hot and sweaty in anticipation over making phone calls to my prospects. Ain't that sticky summer day coming soon?
Answer 1:
Yes, indeed....for all sports other than Football and M/W Basketball (whose call rules are different)....July 1st...next Wednesday is the day when calls can be made to all seniors (2010 grads) and home visits / off campus contacts may also begin to the same. Enough reminders and info has been sent out about the contacts (hasn't it?) and home visits (OK, maybe we could re-send some more guidelines for those), so the emphasis here is on phone calls:
- 1 countable call per week from Sunday through Saturday.
- Document all calls - if you try 6 times and leave 6 noncountable messages, you may summarize that with a single short description until you actually reach the person.
- It's a good idea to document / keep track of incoming calls too - so you know you could maybe still call them.
- Have you checked that the prospect is for sure a senior? Any supporting documentation?
- Have you checked that no-one else on your staff has called the prospect already this week?
Question 2:
Can I work for a camp not run by IU? Any rules/conditions on working at/speaking at/volunteering at these `outside/noninstitutional' camps?
Answer 2:
You CAN do this but of course there are rules and conditions:
- Camp must be run according to all institutional camps and advertised as such....and like ALL IU camps and promotional material / advertising stuff, it HAS to say somewhere on the camp literature (printed and electronic) that it is open to all and any entrant. It has to. It's a rule now.
- We have a form to complete in the compliance office BEFORE you go work the non-institutional camp. We require a copy of the literature (or some such) from the outside camp which shows the above statement has been made somewhere.
- Rules can apply to ALL IU staff, not just coaches, so please check with us - as always and with everything - if you are not sure.
