Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
Question: So, school starts Tuesday, and those amongst you that are organized will be ready to get started practicing or "skill-instructing" very soon. (Assuming Compliance releases your team....!) What do you need to know?
Answer:
Answer: If you are "in-season" from September 2nd, then go for it! Practice up to 4 hours a day, 20 hours per week and take one day off. No limit on numbers of participants. Fill out your ARA log as normal (Logs and instructions coming soon!) BUT...if you are OUT-of Season, then you can only do 8 hours a week of Athletically Related Activity (ARA or CARA for Countable). Only 2 hours should be Skill Instruction and that should be reflected on the log. You need to take 2 days off a week when off-season.
NUMBERS and DATES: Until September 15th, you may only have 4 athletes max at any one time in any facility doing skill instruction (it's NOT `practice' until you're in-season). Each athlete is only permitted 2 hours a week of Skill Instruction each. On or after September 15th, you may do your 2 hours of SI with any number of athletes at the same time - limit is still 2 hours of skill instruction per individual. It's worth knowing that you CAN change your "week" designation from when you're "out" of season to when you're "in" but it may NOT be changed during any segment of your season. Also worth knowing is that if you want to do the planning and documentation, you CAN have different days off for different student-athletes, not necessarily the same day. But make sure it's all explained and described on the ARA log. Depending on the declaration of your week, you MAY use Sunday August 31st, and/or Monday September 1st as your Days Off for next (the first countable) week. But if YOUR week doesn't start till the Monday (in which case you can use that one day) or Tuesday (in which case you have to find 2 new days off before Tuesday 9th) or after that (same) you can't use both holiday days. Get it? Good.
