Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
Now that the Spirit of Indiana initiative has been released to the world-at-large, what can I do as a recruiter to share this information with my prospects?
Answer:
The new rules in 13.4 "Recruiting Materials" have changed some of our more established methods of distributing printed publications. We know it's no longer permissible to give (in any fashion) a printed media/recruiting guide to a prospect (or their family or coaches), and we have limitations on letterhead (only one piece) and restrictions on ALL envelopes used in the recruiting process (which now must be relatively plain, like notecard envelopes).
But despite the prohibition on printing materials and handing them out or placing them in the mail (for example) there are plenty of ways to get the word out about anything and everything associated with your program - and in many respects, the new rules might produce something much more fun and attractive - like THIS: http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/8ce7ceea#/8ce7ceea/1
If you wish to have your prospects and/or visitors here on recruiting trips be exposed to the Spirit of Indiana materials, you can:
Show it to them!
Have them watch the video with you (while here or on a home visit) - or send them the link: http://iuhoosiers.cstv.com/allaccess/?media=192537
Link them to the iuhoosiers.com website http://iuhoosiers.cstv.com/index-main.html, which has a "frontpage" to it now, with links to the Spirit site, where you can also find the PDF of the brochure and other such materials.
Send them the color PDF as an electronic link, as an attachment to an e-mail, or you can even print it off in black and white and attach it to mailed general correspondence via "snail mail."
Of course, it wouldn't be compliance if we didn't discuss what you can't do:
Don't give anything printed (pertaining to the Spirit of Indiana) to prospects, their families or coaches other than as listed above. Other printed materials as expressly permitted in the legislation can still be distributed (questionnaires, etc.).
Don't leave the brochure, any impermissible printed recruiting materials - or other specified athletic publications - lying around to be picked up by prospects or their families and coaches.
Don't mail the color brochure to prospects (or their entourage).
Don't give them the laptop you showed it to them on......OK, just seeing if you're still here.
