Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
Today's question of the week comes from Initially Eligibility Officer Anne Rohlman, and will help you help your prospective student-athletes. How should my incoming student-athletes apply for admission to IU?
Answer:
1. Domestic student-athletes (freshmen or transfers) should apply using one of the marked PAPER athletics applications (please do your best to avoid online applications). If you did not receive any apps at the first coaches' compliance meeting or if you've already run out, you can:
a. Ask Anne for some more.
b. Photocopy the one you have left.
c. Print off extras.
d. Send the pdf file directly to your incoming student.
2. International student-athletes (freshmen or transfers) should apply online, but you should tell either Anne or Anitra so that they can inform International Admissions to look for the application and ensure its processing.
a. Please note that the deadline for International students for Spring 2011 was September 15th. This means all new international students should be applying for Fall 2011.
We understand that some students may apply online without your knowledge or against your advice, but please note online applications can create issues for everyone (longer processing time, possible denial without warning, more people doing unnecessary work). If you or your student-athletes need more help, ask me for my handy template.
I just heard from admissions that there will not be a free application week for in-state students as there was last year; however, if students get free or reduced lunch or free ACT/SAT registration, their applications fee can be waived no matter their state of residence. Finally, don't forget the new 2011 admissions requirements (7 semesters of college prep. math and 4 semesters of a world language).
If you have questions about anything feel free to ask Anne!
