Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
What are some rules to consider when we have prospects on campus for The Big Game?
Answer:
First, we're assuming you've all done the required timely paperwork submission with Anne, and that you all have had your Official Visits approved, and your ticket requests processed. You must get these things done early.
The next consideration is to make sure none of your prospects have any competition later on the day of your visit - no contact anywhere on the day of competition BEFORE their competition.
Next, there's no publicity or tweeting or blogging by ANYONE (coaches, IU media, your team, etc.) about any of the recruit's activities or even their presence here on campus.
We're collectively responsible for not publicizing our prospects and that involves such things as:
a. Not allowing them to get their beautiful faces on the stadium TV, or any other public TV.
b. Not having pictures taken with them which will later show up on public websites, or their Facebook - or YOUR Facebook - accounts.
c. Not allowing them to engage in "pre-game activities" like running out onto the field with the football team, like our current SAs are doing. Please just have someone down there to keep your prospects off to the northeast side of the field, and then get them back into the stands by coin-toss or earlier.
There are also some very specific rules against the involvement of any IU boosters, fans or even the parents of current SA's in recruiting, so if you're having a recruit function, please keep those people away or separate from your prospects - and if you're touring recruits around, be aware of where you're taking them and who they'll meet. Keep it very short and sweet if someone non-IU-staff approaches you to chat. Hello, goodbye, have a nice day.
This is more a suggestion than a rule, but due to the enormous amount of people who'll be at the eastside pass gate tomorrow, it's strongly advised that you get there as early as you can to move through into the game. Just a friendly request. You DO wanna see that 1st quarter.
OK, that's a few things to bear in mind for tomorrow and the future in regards to our recruiting on campus. Please give us a shout if you have any questions about this stuff, or would like some clarification. I'm sure there will be tons of other things that might come up, but just watch for the publicity and the interactions/contacts especially. Thanks. Good luck!
