Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
What are the limits on the 48 hour official visit rules? Any exceptions? What can we pay for?
Answer:
A. Here is a list of 10 things to keep in mind. Also, one is encouraged to continue asking questions whenever you have a novel and unusual situation, which seem to be the norm these days.
1. Can't delay the arrival or departure for personal reasons - not if we're paying.
2. Can't pay any expenses for Mom, Dad or anyone but the actual prospect until the 48 hours begin. And those expenses expire with the 48th hour.
3. Can't do anything for high school or AAU/Club coaches but get them 2 comp admits to a game. That's it.
4. Once the prospect comes on campus with you, spends any of our money on campus or stays in the IMU, the visit (48 hours) begins.
5. Prospects who want to change tickets, bring friends or partake in any other such shenanigans should be prepared to pay for some or all of the trip themselves. Make it easy.
6. We can do some "night before" courtesy activity (airport pick-up, drive-through meal, etc.) without the 48 hours beginning but there are lots of limits and conditions on this stuff, so please check first.
7. We can reserve game tickets for official visitors "extras" and pay for an official visitor's parking if necessary.
8. Unofficial and official visits should not really be combined without a long chat with compliance first.
9. No extra expenses can be spent for non-standard rooms or meals, extra people in rooms (if not Mom, Dad or LGs) or fancy transportation.
10. Finally, although you get unlimited calls during the 48 hours of the official visit, that basically ends with their departure from the locale. And nothing, not anything, ever will allow you to text message a prospect on an official visit, or in any other circumstances whatsoever. The ONLY time text messaging is permitted is on and then after the next calendar day after a prospect signs an NLI. Any other time before that = impermissible.
