Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
What do I need to know about practice and time-requirements over the next six weeks or so?
Answer:
There are a variety of answers, depending on your current "season" status.
1. In-season (actively competing): you may do your 20 hours per week as normal, with one day off required and no more than 4 hours per day between now and the end of the academic semester. Once semester ends (Friday 17th December), you may forego the day off for the duration of the vacation, assuming you stay in-season. Because the Finals Week includes school days however, you DO need to have a day off for that week. You may also practice without time-limits during the in-season vacation time. Any breaks in your season segment during this time will change things though, so check with us if you are not sure.
2. Out-of-Season (Fall Sports) are in the 8-hours per week / 2 days off required per week / no more than 2 of the 8 required hours being skill instruction. Starting Monday 6th December (IU's "Dead Week"), no required countable athletically related activities may take place until the end of finals. Football is not permitted any skill instruction at this time, though may require weight-training, conditioning and up to 2 hours per week of game-film review.
3. Other Sports - this depends on when you designed your season segment breaks. If your countable days (see Ryan if you forgot) go through next week and beyond, you may continue to do usual practice hours as in # 1 above, until you go out of season, in which case you must stop immediately (it being Dead or Finals Week).
Please ask and check if you're not sure!
