Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
What should I do for incoming guys or gals who will be joining my team in late December or January? I'd like to have them practicing as soon as possible!
Answer:
First things first. You'll need to schedule a physical through our training room (recruited athletes), or pick up a walk-on packet for those incomers who are not on scholarship and need to have our paperwork completed by an outside physician. Next, you'll need to schedule a time (minimum one hour) with Jenna for your new student-athlete to complete their compliance forms and watch the compliance video. Access to online forms will be available for incomers this year. Groups of athletes should be scheduled together if possible! No CARA or Voluntary workouts in our facility without medical and compliance processing!
Coaches need to track and document the living situations of any incomers who are arriving and staying over break with teammates or others, and how they are paying those costs. Attached above is the winter prospect registration form which is (eerily) similar to the summer prospect registration form. We just need to know where they are staying, who they are staying with, and what payments are being made in order to ensure they are not receiving any extra benefits in the form of free housing, etc! Form is also on the U:Drive too.
Finally, same as always, your prospects need to be sending in high school transcripts and test scores to the Eligibility Center as soon as possible. For December high school graduates, this can be a quick turn-around, but a necessary component to get them eligible for continued practice and competition. Same goes for transfers! Please check in with Anne to determine the status of each incomer, and what documents they may be missing. [Note: NCAA offices, including the Eligibility Center, will be closed from December 24th to December 31st. Information will not be processed during this time, and NCAA computer systems will be down for several of those days. Instant responses will be difficult during this week, but all will return to "normal" (i.e. SNAFU) on January 3, 2011.]
