Compliance Question Of The Week
Compliance Question Of The Week
Question:
What sort of things should I be doing / do I need to know about my compliance office responsibilities right now?
Answer:
From Kathy:
Ø Renewals or non-renewals for continuing students must be completed by June 30th, 2012.
Ø Any and all international student-athletes will have taxes assessed on their scholarship and it is their responsibility to pay those taxes. See me with questions.
Ø International student-athletes must check in with the campus Tax Reporting Office in Poplars 500
Ø Here's a great website for International students: http://ois.indiana.edu/currentstudents.php
From Anitra:
Ø Anitra, John Sare, and Mike Greene are processing spring 2012 grades for next fall's eligibility certification; reports should be out by the end of next week. (The timing of GPA reports will depend on when any outstanding grades are recorded.)
Ø Participation forms for 2011-12 should be returned to Compliance after spring season ends. (Some NCAA reporting with deadlines depends on this information.)
From Anne:
Ø Confirm with Anne that she has the correct incomers on your IRLs (Institutional Request List - of prospects being actively recruited, or in this case, coming, to IU).
Ø Ask your incomers to request their amateurism certification.
From Andy:
Ø Continue to complete and submit Unofficial visit forms, and -if flying in to Indy - we need info on how your prospect got from Indy to B-town as well- so check both air and car and indicate rental car or shuttle.
Ø Usual recruiting documentation is due through summer. Talk to me if you want help counting evals, contacts, etc.
From Matt:
Ø If you held or participated in any spring camps/clinics, make sure you have completed and turned in all of your post-camp paperwork.
Ø If you are planning to hold a summer camp/clinic, you should have already turned in a pre-approval form, including copies of all brochures and advertisements. If you haven't, please do so immediately.
Ø All 2011-12 CARA logs should be done and into the office by now, or very soon!
And from Ian:
Ø First 2012-13 NCAA D1 Coaches' Recruiting Test is Monday at 9 am in the Shuel Academic Center Computer lab. Be there; get it done.
Ø As "end-of-year" paperwork is near (sorry if you're still competing - keep at it: we'll get you later), the following things are due to us ASAP:
o Awards Forms
o Participation Logs (from fall AND spring) and from coaches and media relations.
o Delete From Roster Forms
Ø And for the organized (and/or the fall sports), you can begin to collect and submit the following stuff:
o Updated rosters for fall
o Program Staff lists (with everyone on there!
o Schedule, Playing Season plans.
Ø As always, forms for the above are located on the U:Drive. Otherwise, ask us for them.
Ø If you don't have pre-season in early August, your compliance meeting day will be Sunday August 19th in the early afternoon for freshies, and about 90 minutes later for returners. Spread the word. And tell people not to come back `til then.....Summer is voluntary.
Ø For any upcoming official visits, and for next fall in particular, your post-visit paperwork (i.e. money reconciliation) should be in our office within ONE week of the visits. Business Office requests.....and they have the money, so there it is!
